What matters most in a bathroom remodel?
Waterproofing, ventilation and drainage: in that order, and all three are invisible once the room is finished. A bathroom that fails does so because water got somewhere it should not have, not because the tile was the wrong colour. Layout comes next, because moving a toilet or a shower drain means opening the floor. Fixtures and finishes matter for how the room feels, but they are the part you can change later without demolishing anything.

The parts you will never see are the parts that matter
A bathroom is a room you deliberately spray with water several times a day. Everything about how it is built either accounts for that or eventually fails because of it.
The waterproofing membrane behind the tile, the fall on the shower floor towards the drain, the way the membrane is detailed at the corners and at the threshold, and the extraction that gets the moisture out of the room. Those are what decide whether the bathroom is still sound in fifteen years. They are also completely invisible in a photograph, which is why they are the easiest place for a cheap job to save money.
If you are comparing quotes for a bathroom and one is notably lower, this is usually where the difference is.
Layout: what is cheap to change and what is not
Keeping the toilet, the shower and the vanity roughly where they are makes a bathroom remodel considerably simpler, because the drainage stays where it is. Drains run below the floor at a fixed fall, and moving one means opening up the floor and, on a slab, cutting concrete.
Moving a vanity is usually straightforward. Moving a shower is a moderate job. Moving a toilet is the expensive one. That hierarchy is worth knowing before you fall in love with a layout.
Converting a tub to a walk-in shower is the most common change we are asked for, and it is generally very achievable, including the curbless, level-entry version, though that needs the floor build-up planned properly from the start rather than solved later.
Ventilation, which almost everyone under-specifies
An extractor fan that is undersized, ducted into the loft rather than to the outside, or simply never switched on is the most common cause of the mould that appears on a ceiling two years after a remodel.
It is a cheap thing to get right and an expensive thing to fix, so we get it right.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Los Angeles?
It depends most on whether the plumbing moves and on the specification of the tiling, glass and fixtures. Yeganeh Inc. publishes verified ranges for ADU and garage conversion work; we do not publish a bathroom range we cannot stand behind. Call and we will give you a real number after seeing the room, at no cost.
Can you convert a bathtub into a walk-in shower?
Yes, and it is the most common request we get. A level-entry, curbless shower is also achievable, but the floor build-up and the drainage fall have to be planned from the start rather than worked around later.
Do I need a permit for a bathroom remodel?
If you are moving plumbing fixtures, altering drainage or changing electrical, yes. Replacing fixtures in the same positions generally does not require one. We confirm which applies before work starts.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
It depends on the scope and on whether the plumbing moves. It is worth knowing that a bathroom has unavoidable waiting built into it: waterproofing and setting materials have to cure before the next trade can start, and rushing those is exactly how a bathroom fails early. We give you a real schedule after reviewing the project.
Why is moving a toilet more expensive than moving a sink?
Because of the drain. A toilet's waste line runs below the floor at a fixed fall, so relocating it means opening the floor and, on a slab foundation, cutting concrete. A vanity drain is smaller and far more forgiving about where it goes.
What causes mould after a bathroom remodel?
Almost always ventilation, or waterproofing that was not detailed properly at the corners and thresholds. An extractor that is undersized or ducted into the loft rather than outside will produce mould on a ceiling within a couple of years regardless of how good the tiling is.
